What will you make?

You leave with a checklist for purpose, accuracy, tone and action, a reader-review checklist and a practice action for the following week.

What is the session agenda?

  1. 0–25 min

Define the intended reader and purpose for a checklist for purpose, accuracy, tone and action; identify purpose, factual accuracy, tone, reader effort and action checks.

  2. 25–55 min

Check source inputs for purpose, factual accuracy, tone, reader effort and action checks; label unknowns and keep assumptions separate from verified facts.

  3. 55–135 min

Draft a checklist for purpose, accuracy, tone and action in a guided exercise using purpose, factual accuracy, tone, reader effort and action checks; annotate the choices you make.

  4. 135–180 min

Run the checklist on two contrasting emails and revise weak criteria. Revise the output and choose one follow-up practice action.

What should you prepare?

No specialist experience required. Bring an optional anonymized example and a device for writing; a practice scenario is available. No paid software is required.

How will you practise afterwards?

Apply your checklist for purpose, accuracy, tone and action to a second anonymized example during the following week. Ask a reader for feedback using your review checks, revise the output and keep a short change note.
